M.I.G.R.A. is a member association of the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) and was founded in 1994 with the purpose of promoting the sport of rodeo and the country/western lifestyle in the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community.

We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. Each year we select different charities to support with our donations.

Newsflashes

Hey all you campin' cowboys and cowgirls! We're gonna have a howlin' good time at the camp out on July 26-27th at The Rockin' R Ranch & Rodeo located in Bear Lake, Michigan. Take a gander at their website. Choose your stompin' grounds:  "Camp Mahsketah"  offers a site with ($20/nite) or without ($10/nite) electricity; while cabins range in price from $30 to $85 per night (2 night minimum stay required).  "You grab a line, I'll grab a pole, ... we'll all go down to the fishin' hole, honey oh babe of mine." Want something more exciting? Go horseback riding, play a game of volleyball, or shoot some hoops! Then come and wind down with a game of cards and a drink at the High Noon Saloon. We'll end the weekend with a rodeo planning meeting on July 27th. Feel free to join us and scope out the rodeo grounds.

Who was seen in May at Liberty Rodeo in Philadelphia, PA dressed like this? You guessed it! Why, inside that garb is our very own Mr. MIGRA 2008, Leroy Aune, competing in the "Wild Drag" contest.

Upcoming Bar Nights

 July 12th - "Wild Drag Revue" at 9 PM at the Hayloft Saloon, located at 8070 Greenfield Road in Detroit. This is a fundraiser that Mr. MIGRA 2008, Leroy Aune, is putting on. Drawings, door prizes,and jello shots, oh my! Best of all, we will have a fashion show featuring cowboys modeling the latest wild drag outfits that you'd find out at the IGRA rodeos. C'mon out and tip your favorite model!

In October, Mr. MIGRA, Leroy Aune, will represent the state of Michigan when he competes in the 2009 IGRA Royalty contest in New Orleans, LA. Proceeds will help cover the cost for his travel to the competition, where, perhaps, he will even find time to model this year's wild drag finery!

MIGRA Patches

MIGRA patches are available for members to purchase at $20 each.  Patches may be purchased at any general membership meeting or by contacting the treasurer at treasurer@michiganrodeo.org.  Click on the picture for a larger image.

 

Small patches are also available for purchase for $5 at any general membership meeting, M.I.G.R.A. event, or by contacting an officer (see Contacts).
