2009 Royalty Competition

Our 2008 Royalty Team (below, after the competition and judging forms) will soon end their reign. They have done a wonderful job representing MIGRA to the public and have raised money for charity. It is time to turn their scepters over to the new team. WHAT? We don't have one quite yet?

The Royalty competition will be held on November 14-15, 2008 at the R & R Saloon located at 7330 Michigan Avenue in Detroit. All competitor applications are due no later than November 1, 2008.

What Does MIGRA's Royalty Team Do?

On behalf of the Michigan International Gay Rodeo Association, the MIGRA Royalty Team is the prime source of raising money to fund a number of charities. They also create revenue to assist in operating MIGRA and accomplish all of this through a variety of methods such as car washes, corporate donations, and entertaining.
Buckles/Tiaras The winners of each of the competitions will receive their Buckles/Tiaras upon completion of the competition.

On May 2nd, at the Triangle Foundation luncheon, Mr. MIGRA 2008, Leroy Aune,  presented a $500 check to Kevin McAlpine who is the Director of Development for the foundation. Leroy raised this money as a requirement to run for Mr. IGRA 2009 in October of this year. To learn more about this GLBT civil rights organization, click here to visit their website.

Each year MIGRA chooses charities to support with donations. This year, the Royalty Team collaborated and chose two very deserving organizations: the Autism Research Institute and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  For more information, visit their websites.
